God’s Desire to Get Married Motivated Him to Become Incarnated

Gospels

In each of the New Testament Gospels, Christ is referred to as the Bridegroom by either Himself (in Matthew, Mark, and Luke) or by John the Baptist (in John):

Matthew 9:15 And Jesus said to them, The sons of the bridechamber cannot mourn as long as the Bridegroom is with them, can they? But days will come when the Bridegroom will be taken away from them, and then they will fast.

Mark 2:19-20 And Jesus said to them, The sons of the bridechamber cannot fast while the bridegroom is with them, can they? For as long a time as they have the bridegroom with them they cannot fast. But days will come when the bridegroom will be taken away from them, and then they will fast in that day.

Luke 5:34-35 And Jesus said to them, You cannot make the sons of the bridechamber fast while the bridegroom is with them, can you? But the days will come when the bridegroom will be taken away from them; then they will fast in those days.

John 3:28-29 You yourselves testify of me that I said, I am not the Christ, but I have been sent before Him. He who has the bride is the bridegroom; but the friend of the bridegroom, who stands and hears him, rejoices with joy because of the bridegroom’s voice. This joy of mine therefore is made full.
