Why Does Christ Need Four Biographies?

Whether it is recorded or not, every man has a biography. Similarly, since God has joined the human race through incarnation and has become a man like us, He too has a biography—in fact not one, but four! The Christ of God incarnated 2000 years ago is like a precious, multi-faceted diamond. In the opening footnotes of the Recovery Version of the New Testament, Witness Lee, a prolific Christian writer during the last century and a co-worker of Watchman Nee, comments on several of the marvelous aspects of Christ presented in the four Gospels:

[King] Matthew testifies that Christ is the King who brings the kingdom of the heavens to earth.

[Servant] Mark tells us that Christ is the faithful Servant of God.

[Man] Luke presents Christ as a proper and normal Man to be the Savior of mankind.

[God] John unveils that Christ is the very God Himself who is life to God’s people.
