Christ’s Genealogies Reveal That We can Be Related to Him!

One evening as King David was walking upon the palace roof, he saw a very beautiful woman bathing (Bathsheba), and although he learned that she was married, he sent for her. When she came to him, he lay with her and she conceived. After Bathsheba told David that she was pregnant, he tried to conceal what he had done by sending her husband Uriah, one of his soldiers, home to visit her. However, Uriah refused to abandon his responsibilities. Consequently, David arranged for Uriah to be killed in battle and later took Bathsheba as his own wife (2 Samuel 11).

“Uriah was a Hittite, a heathen,…[and His wife Bathsheba] was remarried as a result of murder and adultery…. [Thus] Christ as the kingly Savior is related not only to the heathen but also to sinners” (Lee, Footnotes 8).
